Conditions of Service
TSLIS requires a specific date, time, location, and pertinent information regarding the nature and content of the booking prior to the requested date.
Interpreters reserve the right to remove themselves from an assignment where their safety is compromised, or the assignment does not match the specifics that were booked with TSLIS.
Two Interpreters must be booked for assignments that are greater than two hours or for all assignments that will be lecture/presentation style unless special circumstances are arranged prior to booking.
Interpreters will never consult or advise individuals involved unless it is specifically to improve the interpretation process.
TSLIS requires 48 hours (2 business days) notice if an assignment of three hours or less is cancelled. Failing to do so will result in billing for the full amount of service booked.
TSLIS requires five business days notice for assignments that are 4 hours or greater than in length.
All Interpreters booked through Toronto Sign Language Interpreter Service are:
- Active members of the Association of Visual Language Interpreters of Canada (AVLIC)
All information regarding a booked assignment will be kept strictly confidential and in adherence with the AVLIC Code of Ethics. Those who violate confidentiality will be subject to the AVLIC Dispute Resolution Process and immediately removed from the TSLIS service provider list.
Interpreters will provide service without judgment, bias, or opinion.
- Payment must be honoured within 30 days of invoice date unless otherwise negotiated. Failing to do so will result in a late payment penalty of 2% per month
- Payments can be submitted by cheque made payable to Toronto Sign Language Interpreter Service, e-transfer or PayPal to firstname.lastname@example.org
